How to Download & Manage App Data on iPhone without iTunes

Question from an Apple user: I’m tired of dealing with all the iTunes problems, how can I manage apps on iPhone without iTunes? 

iTunes is far from perfect. Some users will experience frequent issues with iTunes whereas others are disappointed at its lack of features. For these reasons, a lot of iPhone users are looking into iTunes alternatives so that they have more control over their iPhone data.

Step 2: We are going to be using the “Restore Partial Backup” for this method, so click on it and choose a backup. Next, choose the type of messages that you want to have restored from the backup and click “Next”.

Both of these methods are very similar but if you only want to restore your text messages/WeChat messages/WhatsApp messages, following the second one will save you a lot of time.

Tip: Download & Manage Your iCloud Backup to iPhone

This final solution is very helpful. If you don’t have an iTunes backup but instead you have an iCloud backup, you can restore data to your iPhone via this solution.

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your computer, click on “Restore Backup to Device”. Below the list of backups that are shown, click the “Download iCloud Backup” option and sign into your iCloud account.

Step 2: After you’ve signed in you can select one iCloud backup. Once you’ve chosen an iCloud backup, press the “Next” button.

Step 3: It will scan the backup and afterwards, simply choose the data that you want to restore, click “Restore”, and you’re done.

Not everyone takes regular iTunes backups but by default, a lot of iPhone information is synced with your iCloud account. If that’s the case, this is a solution to remember.


iTunes isn’t always an option for restoring backups and managing app data.
