Losing some of the contacts on your iPhone can be frustrating. But if you have an iCloud backup, getting them back is just a matter of restoring the iCloud backup to the device. The problem with restoring an iCloud backup is data loss. When you restore a backup to your iPhone, you lose new data on the device that was not included in the backup.
Therefore, restoring iTunes or iCloud backup to get your contacts back on the device may not be an option for you if you have important data you don’t want to lose. That’s why we’ve come up with ways for you to restore contacts from iCloud without data loss.
Part 1. Restore Contacts from iCloud to iPhone Via Contacts Merge
Assuming that you have synced your contacts with iCloud, getting them back on your iPhone can simply be done by merging them back on to the iPhone. Follow these simple steps to do it.
Step 1: On your iPhone, go to Settings > iCloud and check that you are logged in with your Apple ID.
Step 2: If the Contacts toggle is turned on, but your contacts are not showing on the device, turn it off. In the confirmation message that pops up on the screen, tap “Delete from My iPhone.” If the contacts toggle is already turned off, skip this step.
Step 3: Turn the contacts toggle on and you’ll see the “Turning on Contacts…” notification popup on the screen.
Your contacts should now be on your iPhone.
