Are there any alternatives to backing up and restoring your iPhone? Do you have to use iTunes, or are there other ways to do this? How can you benefit from using third-party online tools that give you more freedom over your backups? Let's discuss some alternatives at length:

iMyFone iTransor iPhone Backup and Restore Tool

What is iMyFone iTransor? Well, it's an advanced tool that allows you to back up and restore your iPhone more easily than with Apple's official tools and its original name is iMyFone D-Port Pro. It works with your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, as well as many different versions of iOS, including the latest iOS 11/12. You can:

Key Features:

You can do all of this with just a few simple clicks. It's far better than using Apple's tools because it simply gives you more freedom and you can store your backups wherever you want. Best of all, it's available online and is simple to install on your computer.

 select one or more data

Pros of This Method:

  • It's easy to use.
  • If you make new backups with iTransor, it won't overwrite old ones.
  • You can store your backups where you want.
  • This backup function is totally free.
  • You can only back up important data like messages, contacts, WhatsApp and WeChat instead of making a full one.

Cons of This Method:

  • Not all functions are free.

CopyTrans Shelbee iOS Backup and Restore Tool

This is another backup manager for iOS that lets you backup your data and store the backup where you want. Like D-Port Pro, it won't overwrite your old backups and it can allow you to do backups incrementally to save space on your hard drive. You can back up most of the data on your phone without having to resort to iTunes. It works on most iOS devices, including iPad, iPhone, iPod, and so on.

Copytrans Shelbee

Pros of This Method:

  • It is free.

Cons of This Method:

  • You can only back up and restore the whole device, and not selective parts of the data like you can with D-Port Pro.
  • You have to download the larger CopyTrans control center just to use the free functions. (The other features in the control center cost money to use.)

Dr. Fone iOS Data Backup & Restore Tool

The Dr. Fone iOS Data Backup & Restore Tool is very similar to D-Port Pro, though it does have a few differences. It lets you back up all of the data from your device quickly without any data loss. It also lets you extract pieces of the backup and restore them selectively or export them to your computer. It also has a wide variety of file types that you can export.

DrFone iOS Data Backup & Restore

Like CopyTrans Shelbee, it has its own limits. The main issue is that it is not as simple as D-Port Pro, though it does allow you to backup your whole device in a single easy click.

Pros of This Method:

  • It supports the ability to export data in .csv, .html, or vcard formats.

Cons of This Method:

  • You have to download the entire Dr. Fone toolkit. This is a complex tool with many different functions, and this can be a hassle if you simply want to use it for its backup and restore functions.

There are many different ways that you can back up and restore your iOS device, but using Apple's tools alone will limit you. If you branch out into third-party tools, you will have the power to selectively restore what you want from your backups and you can also avoid overwriting your data. Out of these advanced tools, iMyFone D-Port Pro is one of the best.
