Have you noticed that you’ve lost some of the contacts on your iPhone? If you have a backup in iCloud, the simplest way to get them back is to restore them from the iCloud backup. When you turn on an automatic iCloud backup, the backup will automatically include the contacts on the device. To many users who have lost some of the contacts on their device, this backup can be a lifesaver, allowing them to get the contacts back in a few simple steps.

But there are several ways to restore contacts from iCloud. In this article we take a look at all the options you have in detail to make it easier for you to choose the one that suits you best.

1. Restore from an Earlier Version of the Contacts

iCloud will often automatically archive previous versions of the contacts on your device. If at any time you lose the contacts on your device, you can restore these archives. The only problem is that you may get an earlier version of the contacts which may be different from the one you lost. Here’s how to restore the archived contacts.

Step 1: Go to https://www.icloud.com/settings and then click on “Restore Contacts.” You can find it in the “Advanced Section.”

Step 2: You will see a list of all the archives. Scroll through the list to locate the one that may contain the data you need. Click on “Restore” next to the archive and then simply wait for the restoration process to be completed.

2. Merge Contacts in iCloud and iPhone

Another easier way to get your contacts back on the device is to merge them in iCloud and iPhone. The following is a simple step by step guide to help you do that;

Step 1: Go to Settings {Your Name} > iCloud.

Step 2: Turn “Contacts” off and when prompted, choose “Keep on my iPhone.”

Step 3: Then turn contacts back on and choose “Merge.”

3. Preview and Restore Contacts from iCloud

Another way to restore the contacts from your iCloud is to use a third-party backup and restore tool that allows you to easily preview and restore the backup from iCloud to your device. 4. Make a Full Restore for iCloud Backup

You can also choose to go traditional and restore the full iCloud backup. This method can be effective in helping you get your contacts back, but it will also often result in the loss of the new data on the device. Follow these simple steps to do it.

Step 1: You will need to first of all erase all contents and settings on the device before you can begin the restore. To do this go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This should take you to the setup screen.

Step 2: Follow the setup assistant prompts until you get to the Apps & Data Screen. Here, select “Restore from iCloud Backup.”

Step 3: Sign in to iCloud and select the most relevant backup. Then stay connected to the Wi-Fi network until the process is complete.
