1 Remove the Camera Button on iOS 18 or Later; Restrict Camera on iOS 17/16

For iOS 18 or later, unlock with Face ID or your passcode, touch and hold the Lock Screen, choose Customize > Lock Screen, and use the minus control on Camera. Save the change. This removes the button, but the swipe-left camera gesture is a separate access path.

2 Disable Camera on Lock Screen for iOS 12

For a device on iOS 12, use the Screen Time app-permission setting. Always Allowed controls app-limit exceptions and is not the switch for disabling Camera.

Step 1 Head to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn on the button.

Step 2 Open Allowed Apps, find Camera, and turn its switch off. There is no need to use an Always Allowed Remove action for this setting.

Note

Check both Lock Screen and normal app access afterward. If Camera is still available, confirm the restriction and Screen Time code rather than repeatedly changing unrelated settings.

3Disable Camera from Lock Screen for iOS 11

For devices running on iOS 11 or earlier, Camera restrictions are managed in Settings.. These older steps differ from the modern Lock Screen customization interface.

Step 1 Go to Settings > General > Restrictions and click on Enable Restrictions.
