Question: I’ve started noticing that my child is hiding his iPhone so that I can’t see whathe is doing on it. How to monitor text messages on iPhone so that I can make sure he is safe?
You’re not alone with this thought - a lot of parents begin to worry about their children as they grow up and become more confident talking to others online. Of course, it’s not as easy as picking up their iPhone and looking at it. If they catch you reading their iPhone, they’ll start to have trust issues towards you, which makes it even harder for you to keep them safe.
Now, while every parent acts differently and has their own parenting style, all parents should monitor text messages iPhone to ensure that their children are safe. If you’ve never done this then don’t worry, we’re going to show you how.
Using A Third-Party Tool to Monitor iPhone Text Messages
Unless you’re a professional programmer who knows is also a highly skilled hacker, you can forget about hacking into your child’s iPhone. Instead, we’ll be taking a much simpler approach and using iMyFone D-Back. This program is generally used to recover data from iOS devices and backup files, but we can use these same features to monitor text messages on an iPhone.
- Capable of recovering data and text messages that have been deleted.
- No risk of data loss when managing your data.
- Several recovery methods are available depending on your needs.
- Preview the data that is stored in iTunes or iCloud backup files before you recover it.
- A free trial version is available so that you can try before you buy!
Those are just some of the main features that we think are worth taking a mental note of. If you go ahead and download the free version of the program, you’ll quickly realize that it has much more to offer. For now, we’re going to show you how to use each of the program’s main text message monitoring service.
Monitor Deleted/Existing Text Messages from iTunes Backup
With this first feature, you can use iMyFone D-Back to monitor iPhone text messages by scanning and viewing the contents of an iTunes backup.
Step 1: Launch iMyFone D-Back and selecting “Recover from iTunes Backup” from the left menu.
Step 2: Click “Start” and on the following menu, select “Message” data type you want to monitor. Proceed by clicking “Next”.
Step 3: A list of iTunes backups that are stored on your computer will now be shown. Select the most recent backup that has been taken for your child’s iPhone and click “Scan”.
Step 4: After the scan is complete, simply browse through the data that has been detected and monitor it as you please. You can also recover individual pieces of data from the backup if you need.
Of course, if your children don’t take backups of their iPhone data using iTunes then you won’t be able to monitor their text messages using this method.
Monitor Deleted/Existing Text Messages from iCloud Backup
The next feature works in a similar way to the above one is monitoring iPhone text messages via iCloud backup. Many parents set up their children’s iCloud accounts for them, so it’s not uncommon for them to know the password. If so, you can sign into their iCloud account, retrieve the backup files, and analyse their text messages.
Step 1: Open up iMyFone D-Back and from the left menu, select the “Recover from iCloud Backup” feature. Press “Start” to begin.
Step 2: A list of compatible data types will be shown; for this process, select “Message” and click the “Next” button to continue.
Step 3: Enter your iCloud account information into the box that is shown (this information isn’t saved!) and choose a backup from the following menu. Click on “Next” to have the backup scanned.
Step 4: Click on “Messages” from the list of data types and you can now monitor iPhone text messages.
Again, if you don’t have access to their iCloud account or you know that they don’t take backups of their iPhone, neither of the methods that we’ve shown you so far are applicable.
Monitor Deleted/Existing Text Messages Directly from iPhone
The last option that you have is to use iMyFone D-Back and monitor the text messages by connecting their iPhone directly to your computer. We can’t deny that this isn’t going to be an easy task to do (especially considering how close children are to their electronics nowadays), but it’s not impossible.
Step 1: Launch iMyFone D-Back, select the “Recover from iOS Device” feature, and press “Start” to begin. You should also connect the iPhone at this point.
Step 2: Tick the box next to “Message” and click on “Next”.
Step 3: Once your device has been detected by this software, click “Scan” and the device will now be scanned.
Step 4: Once the scan is complete, you will be able to preview all of the text messages that are currently stored or deleted from the iPhone to computer.
If none of the other solutions will provide you the access that you need for iPhone parental monitoring text messages, this will get the job done well.
A lot of parents feel uncomfortable spying on their child’s text messages but with consideration to how dangerous the internet can be nowadays, it’s important that you do so. When you monitor text messages iPhone, you are keeping a close eye on who they’re communicating with while also making sure that they know general text etiquette. For the simple reason of keeping your children safe, we highly recommend that you download the free trial version of iMyFone D-Back and try it out for yourself - you won’t regret it.
