You might have a new iOS device but what if you lose data after the new iOS upgrade?
The pace at which this change is taking place is nothing short of phenomenal. One of the stark examples of this progress is the ever changing version of iOS, Apple’s mobile operating system. The world currentlywaits with bated breath the arrival of the newest version, the iOS 10. But before we go gung ho about its expected new features, there are certain things we need to ponder. Topping that list will be the backup. It is very essential to create full preparations for backup before jumping into the change.
In this article we will discuss about three ways through which to get your data back. We will use iTunes, iCloud and through our proprietary product iMyfone D-Back.
1 Restore Backup Using iTunes
Before you go ahead and use this step, remember to have installed the latest version of iTunes on your Mac or PC and you have also created an iPhone and iPad backup with iTunes.
Step 1: Open iTunes and plug in your device.
Step 2: Go to Device>Summary>Restore Backup File; Alternatively, go to Devices>Restore from Backup.
Step 3: Select the backup file you need from the current selection and press restore.
2 Restore Backup Using iCloud
There is a major difference between restorations using iTunes and iCloud. While the former is a much simpler process, the latter requires you to use the Set Up Assistance. It also requires a stable Wi-Fi connection otherwise the entire transfer fails or takes up a whole lot of time. Here is how you can go about it.
Step 1: First, go to Settings and then click on General. You would then see the Erase all Content and Settings on the device.
Step 2: Go to the Setup Assistance mode.
Step 3: Swipe on the screen to begin the setup process on the device. Remember to join a stable Wi-Fi network or else the transfer either will fail or will take a very long time.
Step 4: Restore from iCloud Backup>Sign in iCloud using Apple ID.
Step 5: Select the iCloud backup you want to restore and wait for the contents to back up. Depending on the speed of the network and the sizes of the files, this may take some time.
What are the disadvantages?
While the aforementioned methods are the most used, there are certain disadvantages they pose for restoration:
1. The first and foremost concern is a stable and fast Wi-Fi connection. Without this the transfer will take ages.
2. After restoration the contents and settings on the iDevice will be replaced by contents in the back up.
